September 26 – Business for Happy Hour

Midway Business Mixer Midway Business Association will be hosting its next Business Mixer on Wednesday, September 26. Join MBA, other business owners and those that work or own property in Midway for drinks, snacks and networking. Renew Physical Therapy will be co-hosting this event and have generously offered to share their space for the occasion. Join us from 6:00 - 7:30pm at 11010 SE Division Street, Suite #301. TriMet Increases Bus Service On 122nd Avenue

Expanded bus has come to Midway. TriMet announced in August that Line 73-122nd Avenue will become a Frequent Service Line and get an additional 16 weekday and 62 weekend trips, resulting in stops every 15 minutes or more most of every day. In addition, the 4-Division/Fessenden was proposed to be split into two routes, resulting in a new Line 2-Division for more consistent local service. On September 2nd, those changes were put into effect, adding several and more consistent trips through the district. More recently, some of Portland's current and former elected officials held a ribbon-cutting on 122nd Avenue to highlight the new Frequent Service Line, as well as other safety and traffic improvements planned for the busy corridor. We are excited for the added service and look forward to more improvements to come.

City Commissioner Nick Fish joins MBA member meeting

City Commissioner Nick Fish joined Midway Business Association members at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 14. Commissioner Fish spoke about his advocacy for small businesses, specifically in relation to his role helping create the Catalytic Investment Initiative. Launched in 2015, the Catalytic Investment Initiative provides critical resources to Midway and other East Portland Business Associations. These resources have allowed the Midway Business Association to hire staffing, plan and host events and business mixers, and create the MBA website which highlights member businesses in the district. As a guest speaker, Commissioner Fish also discussed his new role overseeing Portland Parks & Recreation, as well as his goal of helping ease the City's homeless issue. Festival of Nations – Sept 16, 2018

Festival of Nations is set to return September 16, 2018, with a celebration of the Midway community and its diversity. The annual event hosted by Division Midway Alliance will bring together 75 unique vendors, a variety of international cuisine, and cultural performances that highlight Midway's diversity and rich culture. The Midway Business Association will again help sponsor Festival of Nations and is excited to celebrate the Midway community.
