April Business Mixer 2022

Our April 0222

Business Mixer Was Enjoyed by Many

Thank you to all the Businesses that came to our first large event since Covid shut everything down.  Its was wonderful seeing everyone again, sharing stories and catching up.  The Portland new Early Response Crisis Team provided a detailed update on their new program.

Membership Drive:  We have not been taking membership dues since 2019.  The MBA has changed  sign up time from January 1st instead of June.  So, if you haven't signed up yet, you can do this online.  Your membership keeps us in compliance with Portland Business Association requirements, it helps us with matching funds for many of our projects, and funds a couple of our major events throughout the year. You probably have all met Rich Reece by now.  He has been doing alot of our Board's business since November.  Rich was hired and his job is funded by Ventu…

Our New MBA President

Our new President is Crista  Cortmaker from Relay Resources.  Crista has big shoes to fill but we have no doubt that she will be great!   Dr. Day has retired from his Chiropractor business!  For anyone who know him, Dr. Day is also a Musician and  a radio show host.  Dr. Day has been a very active member of the Midway Business Association for a great number of years.  We are hoping he will stay on as a member.   Marsha Zimmerman was also one of our former Presidents who worked very hard making connections with other businesses in Midway.  She also made sure we always had interesting and resourceful speakers at our membership meetings.  Marsha moved her property management out of our area so needed to focus on her own changes.

Artistic Trash Cans Coming to Our District

The City partnered with local community organizations and groups to engage the public in creating the artwork for the trash cans as well as selecting the locations where the trash cans will go. Youth from a local nonprofit, Morpheus Youth Project, created six different pieces of artwork that are featured on the trash containers. Morpheus Youth Project uses workshops in the arts and education to provide culturally responsive learning opportunities for youth that stimulate healthy social interaction and positive youth development. We are proud to feature this beautiful artwork on the trash cans.

The City of Roses Disposal & Recycling (COR), is contracted to service the cans three times per week. COR is a locally owned company whose headquarters are in East Portland.

Our New Logo

The New Midway Business Association Logo

You many have noticed that our Midway Business Association has gradually been rolling out a new look! Over the past several months MBA has been working with a professional designer to guide our organization through a rebrand process. This project was made possible in part due to generous grant funds received from our partner Venture Portland.  Here is the  new logo.

The goal of this project was to create a new visual identity that more accurately reflects our community and values. The logo represents a top down view of the built structures and thoroughfares in our district. The interweaving of these different shapes is also indicative of the unity and diversity that makes our area unique. The colors were selected to give a fresher more vibrant look for a community that is on the rise.

We hope you like this new visual direction and look forward to hearing your th…
