Our special guests will be a team member of POIC - Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center and Rosemary Anderson High School who provides the highest quality services in alternative education, mentoring, family outreach, employment training, and placement. They will tell us all about their Summer Youth Intern Work Program. POIC pays for an intern for the summer for 160 hours to assist you if you qualify and are interested.

Nick Sauvie of Rose Community Development will discuss their latest project in the Midway Community. Rose Community Development offers well-constructed, well-managed homes at rents that fit within a family’s budget. These include homes in multi-family apartment communities, duplexes, and single-family homes.

After months of planning, drafting, and discussion, Midway's newest mural has been completed! "Leaders of East Portland" is now displayed on the corner of 122nd Ave. and Powell Blvd. for thousands of commuters and passersby to enjoy every day. This project is an example of the beauty of collaboration:  Funded by grants from Venture Portland, Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and  organized by Midway Business Association (MBA), facilitated by Portland Street Art Alliance, hosted by Octapharma Plasma, and painted by local muralist Alex Chiu, the mural is truly a community effort. The project began over a year ago, in spring of 2022. MBA board members applied for and received a grant from Venture Portland to organize and pay for a mural celebrating their business district.
